Chardonnay is the most widely planted white wine grape in Tasmania.

Our latitude (41-42 degrees south) corresponds with the great Chardonnay growing regions of France (latitude 41-42 degrees north).

Tasmania's cool climate and consequent long ripening period is ideal for building sugars and flavours naturally. Depending upon the weather conditions of the season, a varying amount of Chardonnay grapes are picked early for the production of sparkling white wines (for example "champagne"), and Tasmania is generally held in high esteem by mainland winemakers as a premium source of grapes for this purpose.

We are currently selling our 2006 vintage which was harvested on the 6th of May. The season produced grapes with excellent sugar content and fine flavours. The yield was average (approx.7tonnes per h.a.)  The resulting wine has developed well since bottling in early March and is displaying some typically delightful "honeycomb" flavours with a hint of pineapple. The finish, however, is traditional Chardonnay. The wine is completely unwooded and is presented in a "Stelvin" screw cap.
